Winters with Calendulas

The winter season, here in India gets us a number of plants that bear really beautiful and colourful blooms, which, really mesmerise us with their beauty. The number of plant varieties we get an option to choose from, during this season is something that makes making a choice a really hard task.

For me, this results in a dilemma for me, since, the space in my rooftop container garden is really limited. With a majority of my pots/containers already being occupied by a number of perennials like the many rose plants, Arabian Jasmine plants, and other such plants, that stay there, year after year. Whatever free space I can manage to plant my winter plants in, makes it for me to make a hard task to get season specific plants. Last time, I had got myself phloxes, and poppies.

This time around, I decided that dahlias will again me there, so got myself two of them, a pink one, and a red-white which I got recently. Since I have had calendulas in my garden previously, I decided to get them again this time and thus calendulas have again made it to my container garden. Though, this time around, I have got two different shades of calendulas, different than the ones I have had in the previous years. Phloxes, which I had last year were really beautiful, though, this time I failed to get those. The bright colours of calendulas have the ability to brighten up any winter garden, and this is what I am seeing here in my garden.
